Building a Lasting Legacy for Pender Island

The Pender Island Foundation is a community-led initiative dedicated to strengthening the future of our islands. We are a group of local residents working together to create a permanent, locally governed foundation that will support the people, organizations, and ideas that help Pender thrive.

Our vision is simple: to build a lasting resource that is created by the community, for the community. Over time, the Foundation will help grow local philanthropy, connect people who want to make a difference, and invest in the projects and organizations that enrich life on Pender Island.

While we are still in the early stages of building the Foundation, we are doing so thoughtfully. We are grateful to be learning from the experience of the Salt Spring Island Foundation, whose guidance has been invaluable, and we are working closely with Community Foundations of Canada to establish strong governance and best practices from the very beginning.

We believe that caring for a community is a long-term act of stewardship. By laying a strong foundation today, we hope to create something that will continue to support Pender Islanders for generations to come.
